Qualifications

More like a guide than a traditional psychotherapist, Lynn skillfully coaches her clients and helps them navigate through the overwhelming emotions, complex family dynamics and practical issues that accompany a serious diagnosis.

Lynn helps her clients cope with illness by creating a new context that provides them with a sense of empowerment and control, and the ability to live more productively and purposefully.

Her interest in the psychosocial aspects of illness inspired Lynn
to complete a doctoral program with a focus on family systems
medicine. In more than 25 years of private practice, Lynn has worked with people living with a wide range of diseases from cancer to chronic fatigue. She has trained more than 2,500 clinicians in her continuing education programs, and has developed and facilitated retreats for patients, families and caregivers.

With additional credentials as varied as the patients and families
she serves, Lynn also is an ordained interfaith chaplain, a life coach, popular storyteller and keynote speaker. Lynn has served as a consultant for the Palliative Care program at Kaiser Hospital in Walnut Creek, CA, and is adjunct faculty at the Chaplaincy Institute.

Lynn began her professional career as an audiologist at several New England hospitals. After moving to San Francisco, she headed up St. Mary’s Hospital’s audiology department and developed counseling programs for parents with deaf children. Lynn was an integral part of interdisciplinary teams, working with physicians, patients and families.

Lynn lives in Northern California with her golden retriever, cat and a pair of Australian parakeets. Wing walking on airplanes was perhaps her most unusual summer job. Being with friends, traveling, skiing and Haagan Dazs chocolate-chocolate-chip ice cream enrich her life.

“Having always been interested in medicine, I discovered my passion early on for helping patients and their families manage the chaos and challenges that a life-threatening or chronic illness brings. It’s my privilege to provide patients and their families with valuable information, coping skills, and a sense of dignity and control over their circumstances.”
